Hair Care Tips for a Healthy Scalp
Many people spend a lot of time and money for hair care treatments and products. However, not many people spend enough time or money to keep the scalp healthy. Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. Below are a few hair care tips for a healthy scalp.
Before buying any hair products it is important to address the scalp first. Regardless whether it is dry, normal or oily, you need to get a soothing scalp treatment. This is easily done at home with a Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream and a clean plastic grocery bag. First, use a bristle brush to brush the scalp for a couple of minutes, then start at the front hairline and apply a small amount of Cholesterol cream, and massage into the scalp. Keep parting the hair and apply the cream. After you have completed the whole head, massage completely to work the cream into the roots of the hair, then cover with a clean plastic grocery bag and leave for 20 minutes. Avoid sitting near an air conditioner as the treatment works best when the scalp heats up. After 20 minutes, wash at least twice and ensure all the cream gets loose from the scalp.
Shampoo and Condition
Once the scalp is feeling great, it’s time to shampoos and condition the hair. The treatment regimen you prefer will depend greatly with your hair type, so you may want to consult with your stylist for a better understanding of this. Once you know what shampoo to use, wash your hair at least 3 times a week to avoid product build-up, and then apply conditioner. When applying conditioner, use a wide toothed comb to untangle the hair and leave the conditioner in for about 5 minutes before rinsing.
Air Dry instead of blow drying
Blow drying causes severe damage to hair especially if done poorly and too often. A safer and easier alternative is to air dry the hair. Once you step out of the shower, pat the hair dry then go about your other business from making supper, or cleaning in the house. If you eventually have to get the hair dry fast, you can finish up with a blow dryer but this will be fast and easier as most of the water will have dried up. Air drying keeps the hair healthy and avoids breakages.
Don’t touch your hair or scalp with your hands
Avoid running your hands through your hair during the day. It could spread germs through the hair which will only cause irritation on the scalp and it may spread to your face as well.
Avoid using hot irons
Many hair specialists give many hair care tips but fail to mention that you need to avoid using both curling and straightening irons because of the damage they cause to the hair. You should especially avoid using them on wet hair and instead should only be used for touch-ups after the hair has already been styled.
